My second class... was nice...

In this time, I felt nice. We started the class with a warm-up. I asked the students to stand up and make a circle. For this activity, I brought a bag with pieces of paper that contained animal´s names. So, I made a noise with a marker on the board and the students had to pass the bag to each of them; when I stopped doing the noise, the student that had the bag must to take a piece of paper and mimic the animal. So, the rest of the students had to guess the name of animal. It was so funny, all of us laughed. After that, I gave some explanations about prepositions of place. In this step, I used some objects for showing the meaning of the prepositions. Then, I asked the students to make pairs for doing an oral activity. I gave an object to each of pair work. Well, one of them had to make questions about the position of the object and the other one had to answer using the prepositions of place. I really liked this activity because all of the students were practicing the target language. I could notice a positive wish of learning. The students were placing the item in different positions for using all the prepositions that we learned in class. It was nice. In another hand, one of the activities that didn´t go well was a listening exercise that was from the book. The students had to complete some sentences by listening the Cd information. It didn´t work well because most of them already did it. So, the ones that had the answers gave copy to the others. I felt bad because I couldn´t reach my objective in this activity.

Things that I learned from this class:

IIt is not so good to use the exercises from the text books.

IIt´s better to use flashcards for teaching prepositions of place.

II must pay attention in the necessities of my students.

So, it was a nice experience. I learned and I continue learning...

Time, time, time one of my problems in this class.

Well, I began another semester. In this time, I started teaching in technical English. It was my first experience with this group. I had some doubts about how can I teach in this group. Some of my classmates told me that it was like basic level. Also, they told me that I didn´t have to bring difficult activities. So, I went to the class and it was nice. It is a group of girls. We began with a warm-up in which each of the students was going to tell her complete name and how she likes to be called. This activity helped me to know their names and get confidence. Then, I gave some grammar explanations about the verb be. After that, I gave to the students a page with some exercises about the verb be. All of them worked on that. They showed interest for learning English. Then, we checked the activity in an oral form.

One of the activities that I liked was an oral activity. It was easy. I wrote on the board the sentences that they were going to use. All of the students participated and enjoyed it. On the other hand, this activity took me too much time because it was a large group and I lose the control of some of them. I finished my time class and I stayed with them until the class finished. The students presented an interesting homework. It was about a video conversation. I really liked it. I noticed that my tutor teacher is really creative with the homework assignments.

Some of my class observations are:

I always have to correct the students.

I have to prepare activities that don´t take me

so much time.

I have to prepare activities that catch the

students attention.

Well, the next time I´m going to do my best. I learned a lot and I’m going to continue learning.
